 Shaping a More Inclusive Changi with the CARE Ambassador Training Programme
Changi is becoming a friendlier place for persons with reduced mobility (PRMs) and disabled passenger with intellectual or developmental disability needing assistance (DPNAs). With the new CARE Ambassador Training Programme launched in Jun 2020, frontline staff from various agencies got the chance to learn about different disabilities and picked up skills to better engage these passengers, to ensure they have a great experience at Changi.
Under this programme, airport staff:
learnt the different characteristics of physical and invisible disabilities;
learnt how to engage passengers with different disabilities and serve them better; and
understood the concept of inclusivity that embraces the different needs of passengers.
To create this programme, CAG teamed up with Rainbow Centre, recognised by the National Council of Social Services (NCSS)
to provide training in the area of special needs. The sessions were conducted by a team of highly experienced educators and psychologists who have worked with organisations such as the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and National Heritage Board (NHB) to set up inclusive visitor centres. The CARE Ambassador Training Programme is the latest effort to upskill staff, enhance passenger experience and create an inclusive, barrier-free airport that everyone can enjoy.
The CARE Ambassador Training
Programme changed my perspective of PRMs. They are just differently abled and need to be treated with respect and care.

You will definitely apply what you learn
during this course. We encounter people with disabilities every day and we should do our best to understand them.
